I am seriously thinking of creating a separate blog for writing in Tamil :) What say?? Many(!) of the readers of my blog are non-Tamils and are expressing concern (?!!) when I post something in Tamil which they can't read :) A happy thought is that there are people out there who follow my blog and are willing to spend time on reading what I babble :D So here is the translated post in English of the Original post in Tamil!
An Evening by the Seashore...
I wanted to have some change over the weekend, so asked my sister whether she would like to go to the beach. She spontaneously said "Yes". I then asked my Mom, she too agreed. That was a surprise :)
We started for the beach around 3. The journey from Avadi to Marina beach is about one hour. As we got down from the bus, the sea breeze came and embraced us like a long lost friend. Enraptured by her love, we were drawn towards the seashore. The Sun, too seemed to be smiling. After a walking for a while, we stopped at a place where there were not many playing. I and my Sister go ready to play in the water. I was expecting that my Mom would take our bags and sit in the shore. But she gave us a sweet surprise saying that she too wanted to play!
My Mom is very timid by nature. When she was a young girl, she was too afraid to cross the canal beside her house in her hometown. But God knows what happened to her today, she wants to play...
While playing, initally there were small waves which came like shy kittens touching just our feet and then running back. After sometime, as though they have gained courage seeing friendly faces, they endeavoured to climb to our laps. My sister who got worried about getting completely drenched wanted to go back. But before I could refuse, my Mom replied to her.
Mom wanted to go further into the waves it seems. So me and my sister caught hold of her arms on either sides and she dipped herself into the next big wave that came by. Guess she must have lost her years in those waters, she was giggling like a small girl :) And tried the same over and over again...
Just a while ago, when we were walking on the beach, I saw some people playing with their kids on the waves. I just wished that how nice it would have been if I had a kid to play with. If wishes are truly selfless and pure, God grants them instantly i guess. Thats why he made my Mom a kid for the day in our arms!
nice post! good you had fun!

ReplyDeleteI can only say you are quite lucky tht ur mom let go of her shyness n rediscovered the child within her. Still waiting for mine to do so - though I kind of lost the hope to make her do anything than wet her toes ! :)
