Yet another passtime..Wat would u call that... YAP;)

As mentioned in an earlier post, a few months back I decided to resume the biggest pleasure of my childhood: Drawing. When started I didn't actually plan any theme. But, I ended up giving it away to my colleagues. This has become a habit now, that most of my friends at office have a painting made for them, a few more have even started asking when I would gift them one! Here's a post listing those paintings:

1. The first one I made, was for Kiran, a friend of mine at Novell. When he saw the picture, he was impressed that he promised that he'll hang it up in the new house he was constructing. Flattering huh? Well this is the one I gave him...

2. Next was a picture of two girls-animated characters which i had seen on the mouse pad in my college's computer lab, I painted it and gifted to ajesh, my teammate.

3. The third was Superman, this I gave to Subbu, a Manager sitting next to me.

4. Then, it was Christmas time, I gifted Sahana a picture of Mother Mary with Jesus and Angels singing to them.

5. Around that time, Puthali had gifted me a Santa Claus and Vitta suggested that I draw that. I thought of doing something different. So, instead of drawing the picture, I made a collage by cutting/pasting bold color sheets. This one I gifted to Vitta who had initially suggested drawing it.

6. Also, I drew another funny picture I got from a forwarded mail, and gifted to Attur. Attur was too paranoid about the comment in the picture that I included my name stating that the comment came from me :)

7. Following that we went on a weekend trip to Wonderla, a theme park here in Bangalore. Coming back, I noticed that the pamphlet they gave us had a cute pic of a girl startled with a sign board "Enter at ur own risk!". I drew the picture and thought of placing it in my cubicle at office, but then I gave it away to another friend, Prem.

8. After this I made a series of pictures of Popeye which I gifted to Sumanth and Prem. Those of you who know Sumanth would agree with me that he looks more like Popeye ;)

9. The next one I gifted to Suresh aka mams. I gave him a painting of a penguin with a caption "Any more Bugs??" Most of them who saw the picture commented that it looks exactly like mams. So, from then on I started gifting my colleagues cartoons which closely resemble them.

10. Along with this I gave Gautham, a picture of Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

11. I had drawn this cupid for a poster we put up in our floor for Valentine's Day. I gave this to Yadab who has the habit of looking things at angle of 45 degrees rather than in a straight line :P

12. Next one was definitely meant for Puthali. Of course, she was not so happy with the comment and she returned the favour in form of a picture which I have put in my profile :)

13. To patch up things I gifted her a picture she liked very much, that of Linux chic! This was a collage rather than a painting:

14. For Sailesh who is a big time fan of JOKER from Dark Knight, I gave a picture of Joker writing on the glass "Why so serious?" Got a compliment saying that it looked really cool. But I was not so satisfied though! I thought it didn't come out so realistic or scary for that sake..

15. The next drawing was for my sweet sister. She had won second prize in State level competition held in her office. To appreciate her, I made a painting which I designed like a card, opening up would reveal Minnie mouse watering some flowers, thereby showering water on two squirrels. My sis liked this very much!!

16. Then I drew something for Babula, a Donald duck. He liked it very much but not the add-on which I included later. I made a picture a cellphone ringing aloud and placed it next to the duck ;) This is because you can always hear his phone ringing at a jarring tone almost all the time when he is away from his cubicle.

17. By this time I started hearing complaints from close friends of mine, Daya and Chandrika that I haven't gifted a painting to them yet. Hmm...so I started out to draw for them ..I gave a picture of dancing girl to Daya and a Greeting card full of collage pics to Chandrika on her birthday.

18. The greeting card was designed like a book. It starts with, the caption "Photo Gallery" and then...

To cheer her up,

The actual message :)

A wish,

and a prayer :P

Chandrika liked it so much that she showed it all those who came to wish her a Happy Birthday :D

19. This is the most recent one I made, for MB Kiran. The SUSE logo became a bit dark. But, on the whole it came out well..

20. Last one was made for Ramesh.... Check out!!! I hope everybody liked it :)

  1. When I was getting amazed and astonished by the pictures, I thought it would have soo many comments and that I wont have anything more to say... But I am shocked...

All the pictures are simply awesome and amazing. Tell you what? I cannot believe that you drew everything. If you have drawn everything, then Hats Off for you!!!

[The best compliment anyone can get is a pessimistic comment like this "there is no way you had drawn these beautiful pictures" :)]

  3. Hey Jency... nice drawings... never thought u would draw such nicely...

Just one suggestion, whether u will or not. Why dont't you just try out with realistic drawings rather than cartoons and try publish them.

    bye,
    Dinesh
